Last night, Salim took to the stage at the 21st BAFTA Games Awards in London to collect his first win for the captivating action-adventure platformer, Tales of Kenzera: ZAU; where players step into the role of Zau - a young shaman on a heartfelt quest to bring his father back from the dead.

This debut game by Surgent Studios (which he founded in 2020) takes inspiration from rich African mythology; showcasing beautifully hand-crafted environments, rhythmic combat, and spiritual storytelling, which combine in an emotionally powerful journey through mystical realms.

Blending cultural authenticity with engaging gameplay, Tales of Kenzera: ZAU explores Salim’s own experience of grief, which resonated with the voting jury to win in the ‘Game Beyond Entertainment' category at the prestigious awards.

"I wasn't planning on winning anything today! This is why we are doing this...this is why we make art, tell stories..."
